130 artists will open their studios to public

In the studios it is possible to get to know the artist, his creation and space – to experience the whole package. In addition to visiting the studios and special exhibitions it is also possible to try out the techniques of monotype, porcelain painting or typography and join in carpet-weaving. ’Loovala’ offers a unique experience of nude painting at night, mandala painting, at 'Grafodroom' you can get paint on your hands and in 'Saviklubi' clay...

There will be exhibitions of visual arts, applied art, sculpture, photography, fashion design, installations and video art. Next to well-known artists also artists from the older generation and very young artists will take part; both active as well as hidden creators. It is possible to meet more than 130 artists and visit nearly 60 studios all over Tallinn.
Open Studios will give a good overview about the versatility of today’s art. At the same time art and artists will become more visible in Tallinn and visiting exhibitions will become more exciting. The aim is to make art more visible in remote areas. Maybe you will discover an artist working next door, from whom you can learn drawing, ceramics or just visual judgement.
The studios will be open on five Sundays in August and September in different city districts of Tallinn:

21 August – Old Town
28 August – Central, Kristiine and Haabersti
4 September - Nõmme
11 September - Central, Kadriorg and Haabneeme
18 September - Kalamaja, Kopli and Pelgulinn

The studios will be open at 12:00-18:00. Location maps for the studios will be available at Kunstihoone (Tallinn Art Hall), Disaini-ja Arhitektuurigalerii (Design- and Architecture Gallery) and participating studios. Also available to download from www.ateljeed.com.

NB! Visits to studios are free of charge.
