Chain of Problem Points opens around Tallinn

There are seven different kinds of problem point machines – Small Poetry Machine, Zen- Traffic light, Sorrow-Bank, Confession Phone, LokaalRaadio’s Loudspeaker Post and Worry-Letterbox. The machines – Problem Points – are located in clusters all around town and form a chain of problem points.

„The game depends on the initiative of the people – someone has to press a button. The aim is to give an opportunity to passers-by to take a time out and distract possible worrying thoughts,“ comment the organisers of the project Liina Keevallik and Katrin Essenson.

„Why this anti-depression chain of machines? Even if we forget about the latest trend word – depression, these machines have a wide working field. Worry seems to be the most dangerous enemy of a person in our cultural space and poetry has been used earlier to fight it, so we decided to use different appearances for the same good old remedy,“ says Liina Keevallik.

The Chain of Problem Points will open in three stages. The first Problem Point will open on 2nd of June in the Old Town on the Suur-Gildi square and Von Krahl Theatre bar and terrace. The second Problem Point will be opened at the seashore area next to the Culture kilometre on 5th of June. All other Problem Points will be opened on June 13th.
The authors and organisers of the Chain of Problem Points are Liina Keevallik, Katrin Essenson, Martin Pütsep, Andrus Aaslaid, Kalle Pruuden, Tõnis Tammisaar from MTÜ Kirbutsirkus. The project is part of European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011 programme and is being supported by Estonian Culture Endowment.
