Detour reports from the first viewings in Estonia and Russia
The film continued its journey through Estonia in the cities of Kunda, Kohtla-Järve, Rakvere and Narva and subsequently to Russia where it was shown in St. Petersburg, in the Ingrian village Koltuši and in Vyborg, at the central library built by the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. The last screening in Russia took place in the Museum of Contemporary Art „Erarta“ in St. Petersburg.
During these 10 screenings, about 350 people came together to watch the film and discuss with the two filmmakers. This was an occasion for the public to share comments and impressions about the film but also to discuss different issues approached by it, as for instance the question of memory in the Gulf of Finland or the changing perceptions of history throughout generations. Part of these impressions have been collected in the „guest book“ which will continue to accompany the film during all its journey.
After a break and a screening in Berlin on 12th of November 2011 at the “Finnland Institut”, the film will finish its tour in December in Finland. 7 to 10 screenings will be organized in several cities with different partners before the last screening which will take place in Turku on 17th of December.
