Ene-Liis Semper's exhibition opened in Kumu
The curator Eha Komissarov says, the viewer will find a changed position of the artist. „Video projections that have been integrated into objects, create new synergies and provoke total dislocation of the perception.“
The exhibition by the video and installation artist and Theatre NO99 artistic director Ene-Liis Semper is location specific that is being carried emotionally by certain existential attitudes and movement between abstract figures and intimate moments.
The earlier works and specially created new works are being put into context by a massive labyrinth, a refined room installation that is also a massive intrusion into Kumu’s traditional architecture and creation of own space in the midst of museion. In the new works the five years that have passed since Semper’s last exhibition are clearly perceptible.
These are years that have passed in Theatre NO99 and in private life. We will see the reflexions of the sharp, witty and many faceted aesthetics of theatre NO99 as well as the emotional attitudes, observations and reactions that form the base of the theatre’s productions in a different form. At the same time we will see some controversial moments of a person’s life. These moments are simultaneously delicate and merciless, charmingly poetical and painfully honest.
The exhibition will remain open until the end of the year.
