Estonian Press photo 2010
The annual exhibition of the Association of Estonian Press photographers (EPFL) has been compiled from 819 photos that entered the competition. Although the Press Association has been issuing prizes since 1997, the EPFL – founded in 2010 aims to develop the field and promote the role of press photography in the general media landscape.
Estonian Academy of Arts professor Anneli Porri who participated in compiling the exhibition says that newspaper photo and fine art photography are adjacent practises that when meeting create a blurred area where it is difficult to draw lines: both practices have their advantages – media the immediacy, circulation and multiplication, art on the other hand concept, exclusivity and freedom of position.
31 large format photos represent the work of 22 press photographers. The design of the exhibition is by Lii Treimann. EPFL is also presenting a book „Eesti Pressifoto 2010“ in conjunction with the exhibition. Cooperation partner Estonian Association of Newspapers.
