The concept is taking the Olympic ideal into arts. The idea should inspire people to experience the strength of interaction which is able to challenge personality and community equally through the power of singing together. The World Choir Games will have nearly 20 000 participants from more than 50 countries.

 
The European Capital of Culture Mixed Choir is competing in the categories of mixed choirs as well as modern music and performs at the concert „Choir Fireworks – We are the World“ and the closing ceremony.

After the Choir Games the European Capital of Culture Mixed Choir will perform at the EXPO cultural centre and at the European Square.
This year’s EXPO in Shanghai has as its main theme "Better City, Better Life" which is a perfect match with the concept of Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011.

European Capital of Culture Mixed Choir started preparations for going to EXPO in April when it recorded tracks for the innovative idea of the Estonian pavilion „Singing Saturdays“.

This project offers the fans of choir music and karaoke a chance to combine their passions: as a world premiere the biggest choir karaoke is being recorded in the Estonian EXPO pavilion layer by layer.

The visitors can join in with the choir video in karaoke and record songs like ABBA’s hit „Money, money, money“ and many others.
