Finno-Ugric play on stage of NO99 Straw Theatre
Sugrierror.com is a play about Finno-Ugric issues that stages itself. It rebuilds itself at every performance joining the existing parts daily according to the day, to the audience, to the thoughts of actors and to whatever else happens. It is a game of associations – experiment of combining Finno-Ugric mentality and theatre, where „error“ stands for Black Peter, Joker or trickster, unexpected solution or desperate error message.
But nothing terrible happens. Nobody will attack the audience or pour water over the viewers. Nobody forces the viewer to start living in a different way or to face the actual disturbances or catastrophes of the world. The bets are imaginary: identity and roots.
And the player asks: if you wake up one morning to discover that you are a stranger, then what will you do, where will you go? If you are unexpectedly – at a parking lot or cashier queue, half-asleep or at work – hit by the realization, that maybe you are not at all part of today’s Euro-American world but you are different, then who is this „other“?
The dices with possible answers will be cast by chance, adjusting the stiches according to the moment and subjective maze of connections into a unique pattern, be it on the traditional costume of the native village or in the logic of dreams of the subconsciousness.
