Gateways presents: Networked Fashion

The main presenter of the event Sabine Seymour PhD talks about the connection of new technology and fashion industry as well as materials in different areas of use. Austrian native Sabine Seymour is the head and docent of the modern technology lab of New York’s Parsons New School for Design, who has published two books on design, fashion and technology -  „Fashionable Technology – The Intersection of Design, Fashion, Science, and Technology” and „Functional Aesthetics – Visions in Fashionable Technology”.

Dutch artist and architect Daan Roosegaarde examines relations between architecture, people and technology. Berlin group Trikoton presents its collection knitted on voice and software that transforms sound into binary codes on which the generation of their knit patterns is based.

Estonian designer Kärt Ojavee’s „smart textiles“ projects examine what are the usage possibilities of hybrid materials in different environments. Tiago Martins in cooperation with Ricardo O’Nascimento demonstrates Rambler sport footwear that posts every step the wearer takes as a tweet on Twitter.

The workshop takes place at Kumu on 11th June at 15.00.

One of the largest media art exhibitions in Europe this year „gateways. Art and Networked Culture” takes place in close cooperation with Goethe Institute while being one of the highlights of European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011.
The exhibition is being supported by EMT, British Council, German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Spanish Embassy.

Curator of the exhibition is Sabine Himmelsbach from Germany.
