NEU/NOW ONLINE Festival launched
“Due to the Festival taking place on-line, it is able to reach a wide audience, thereby broadening its international dimension. I believe the on-line format provides new opportunities, not only to our young artists but also enables them to attract new audience groups,“ said Marje Lohuaru, a member of one of the international jurys of the festival and the Vice Rector for International Relations of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.
The NEU/NOW Live Festival takes place from November 17-20 and brings highly contemporary European art to Tallinn Old Town, where 35 projects from 17 countries that have been specially selected from the on-line Festival will be showcased. Projects that were selected to the live-festival can be seen and heard in the Tallinn Kinomaja, in Kanuti Gildi Saal, in Kullo Gallery, in the Gallery of Design and Architecture and in Mustpeade Maja.
231 projects from 27 countries applied to take part of the NEU/NOW Festival. The Festival features projects in five broad categories: visual arts, design, film, theater and dance, and music and sound.
The NEU/NOW Festival is open to graduating art students and recent graduates of Higher Arts Institutions and Universities which are members of ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts), ELIA associate members and non-European members of Elia. ELIA is an independent membership organization, founded in 1990, which represents approximately 350 institutions across 45 countries.
