In this year’s edition, the NU Performance Festival leaves behind the theatre scene and conquers the stage of the everyday: From November 7 – 10, 2011, the biannual for international contemporary performance and theatre is exclusively hosted at the Sokos Hotel VIRU. The international exhibition Four Paintings Magnified – Tracing Bosch and Bruegel opens at the Kadriorg Art Museum on Friday, 21 October. The exhibition presents four 16th-century Netherlandish paintings in the European Capital of Culture – Tallinn. It uses extensive multimedia solutions to introduce the origins of the works, the time and place of their execution, and the fascinating journey of the search for the authors. There are reasons to connect all four paintings with the works of the famous artists Hieronymus Bosch (1450–1516) and Pieter Bruegel the Elder (1526/30–1569). Find out more...

Bernt Notke’s The Dance of Death is one of Tallinn’s best-known and most significant medieval artworks. Inspired by it, English composer and conductor Gregory Rose has created a piece for choir and instrumental ensemble which will be performed at St Nicholas’ Church by the Chamber Choir of the Estonian Philharmonic Society and a number of instrumentalists.
