Opening of LIFT11 installation ‘KALARAND’
Kalarand is a self-emerged beach on the shore between Linnahall and Patarei that has become a popular bathing place among locals. In spite of the widespread panic about contamination, tests have proved that the water is clean and the location is naturally suitable for bathing. There is no other bathing place in central Tallinn.
The cleaning and presenting of Kalarand as a self-liability beach is to attract attention to the plans within this area of Tallinn as a substantial residential and harbour development. By giving meaning to the city space as bathing beach, LIFT11 hopes to bring fresh winds into diversifying the developer’s plans and helping the owner of the land improve the image of the area as well as its future quality and usability
Kalarand is not an official public beach.
