President of Estonia recognized volunteers and promoters of voluntary work
The title of volunteer of the year was awarded to Rauno Avel, Jarmo Idavain, Maite-Margit Kotta, Kuldar Käsper, Leili Nael, Erna-Elise Neimann, Ülle Olli, Margus Press, Aino Suviste and Ina Tepp.
Special recognition as volunteer leaders was awarded to Piret Ehavald and Svetlana Varjun.
Piret Ehavald is the volunteer’s coordinator of European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011 who has been characterized by her volunteers as a great organizer and motivator. She has promoted voluntary work for all kinds of people and different age groups and has created a remarkably large base of volunteers. More than 500 volunteers have been active at the events and programmes of the European Capital of Culture during the last few years.
The other awarded volunteer leader Svetlana Varjun has dedicated her time and effort to the programme of NGO Estonian Mental Health Association that aims to raise children’s self confidence and trust into people.
