Tallinn 2011presents: first open air cinema on the roof of Viru Keskus

The open air cinema on that scale is unique in Estonia and will offer the visitors an unforgettable movie experience with cutting edge technology.

The Rooftop Cinema comes with a personal Hi-Fi sound, an authentic 35 mm movie projector and a massive 12.5mx8.5m inflatable screen.

Up to 300 viewers can attend the screenings held from Wednesdays to Sundays. There is also an open air cafe and bar from Wed to Sun 12 pm to 2 am.

The man behind the Rooftop Cinema Aivar Laane explains that the programme has been compiled in cooperation with PÖFF (Dark Nights Film Festival) and there will certainly be something worth seeing for everyone.

„We will show many rare movies that have not been seen widely in Estonia so far. Each movie will be screened at most twice during the season, adding to the uniqueness of the programme.“

In addition to rare movies the repertoire also includes some “forbidden“ documentaries, new movies, cult films, selected comedies as well as Hollywood classics.

The opening night on 2nd of July was a great success that caused praise from participants as well as media commentators.
