World premiere of an international cooperation project in Theatre NO99
„Three Kingdoms“ is a play by Simon Stephens that examines remote places of Europe and human mind. The action takes place all over the continent, moves in centres and periphery, bars and offices, rooms and forests. The story that begins with eggs and bacon ends in a mystical un-known. Two detectives start to investigate a brutal crime and soon find themselves in the midst of the weirdest subjects of human trafficking. In this business there are no loans and credits. Here all deals are final. Meetings that should advance the investigation eventually form a complicated pattern of knots, setbacks, entanglements and deceptive appearances.
Sebastian Nübling is a German director who has become one of the most important authors in German speaking space. His handwriting... Well, that’s why he is good - he doesn’t have handwriting. He is not a guy who would execute already found solutions. While preparing each staging he searches, blunders, tests, finds, gets disappointed and creates. Directing both contemporary and classical texts, in both big theatres and with young actors Nübling has retained vigour, flexibility and creative passion, a really rare commodity in today’s art.
